During autumn, the “Global Goal for Cities”, an event linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by world leaders in 2015, was held in the city of Manresa.
The SDGs are global goals to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity on the planet as part of a new sustainable agenda.
The event, organised by the URBACT National Point and the Manresa City Council, in collaboration with the International Relations Department of the Barcelona Provincial Council, highlighted the role of local governments and municipalities in achieving different objectives, such as the transfer of knowledge and results, cross-training, multilateral alliances, the exchange of ideas and the development of new proposals, all in the field of localising global agendas and the SDGs.
Such ambitious objectives required a multilevel, multilateral and international perspective, which is why global, European and national institutions and networks, as well as Catalan municipalities, participated in the event. The presentations of the experts and professionals during both days were in Spanish and English. Thanks to our colleague David Salas, from Traducciones Mon, Chesca Guim, CEO of CGS Translations, had the pleasure of providing simultaneous interpretation from English to Spanish and vice versa for the experts during the congress. She also previously accompanied a delegation of experts from Hungary, who had a meeting with the Sr. Mayor of Manresa and visited some of the city’s buildings, accompanied by representatives of the city council’s urban planning commission.
Throughout the four days, CGS Translations once again contributed to the dialogue and exchange of ideas between European cities in order to ensure a more sustainable future.
